Obama's bill shows how he thinks big: do everything we can to make sure that lead-painted Thomas the Tank Engine toys don't get into the hands and mouths of millions of toddlers in this country.

At first I thought this line must be a parody but then I realized the author was serious.

Not one child has been shown to have suffered anything from Chinese toys. This is a small problem being artificially inflated because it plays into parents fears and politicians can look good on the cheap dealing with this tiny problem. Contrary to the ludicrous assertion that this is somehow "brave", it is totally cost free as the toy companies are horrified to be associated with lead paint on toys and will cower and promise to do anything to fix it.

Secondly, who the hell cares what bills each of them introduced? It's easy as pie to INTRODUCE bills. It's hard to PASS them. Most bills don't even make it to the flor. It's hard to get a vote, hard to shepherd them through both houses and bichamber negotiations..

Tell me what legislation Obama has actually gotten passed, or even helped pass.
