When he had a small force of a few hundred insurgents and was defeated at Ali's Mosque. you all laughed at me for predicting he would come back and be a force to be reconned with. No one had ever heard of him, there were insurgent idiots all across Iraq, and when I presented the shadow organisation and the Mahdi lore you all accused me of being insane. His support is now thought to be equal to the Iraqi National Army.

Too much credit? OK, What is his official position in Iraq now Nadine? Answer... he has none. What position has he ever held? again ... none. Gosh no credit there. How much power does he now weild? The President now has to answer to him. hmmm ...

"They've currently got him in a theology cram course to beef up his religious credentials."

ehhh ... to be recognized as a Mullah? Which would give him authority over political figures, right? Yes, that's the way it works there.

I don't personally give him credit for being anything except for being one of the most extreme radicals on the planet, who has a goal and who believes his own press. 'Thug' is as good a term as any for extremists in my way of thinking but that doesn't lessen what I believe to be his ability to accomplish some of his goals and weild power in the world.

What is his goal?..."to subsume every fighting force of the shi'ites and subdue the globe under Khalifate rule."

What I believe with all my heart is that he will pursue his goal until it is realized or until he is killed trying. He is making progress, what do you think would stop him, certainly not borders, or political authorities. I can see that he has made major accomplishments toward that goal every time he surfaces from the shadows. And now we are hearing about Mehdi belief across the Shi'ite world... what human being do you think most represents that belief system? It is Moktada.

It seems at some point even you will have to recognize it. Maybe when he at the gates of Israel, which you may have noticed is at the tip of that crescent I described.
