From Cox and Alm... "At the average wage, a VCR fell from 365 hours in 1972 to a mere two hours today. A cellphone dropped from 456 hours in 1984 to four hours. " The authors attribute this change to international trade......BS...it's due to advances in microelectronics technology. In 1960, only one transistor was put on a chip, today billions are put on a chip....hence wafer productivity has driven costs down by at least 3 orders of magnitude....
