I remember driving through the oil fields in Kansas and Texas as a child. Not aesthetically pleasing, to me.

More recently, I have driven through huge wind fields in California. There is something quite majestic and beautiful about the rows of white towers with their slowly spinning propellors.

There is just no question in my mind that wind power should have its place in our energy plans and policiies. It is, in fact, economically viable and sustainable.

I'd like to see the federal government sponsor competitions to find ways to design wind turbines that are less expensive to manufacture and maintain. A few well motivated entrepreneurs might be able to help our nation become more competitive in this area.
