Considering the moral majority and bible belt support for bush i would say nadine has once again shown off her blind hypocrisy

Did the Evangelicals ever say it was a Christian duty to vote for Bush, and all true Christians had to be Republicans?

Did any of them think they were going to get salvation by voting for Bush? Was there a Bush-mania among them to compare with Obama-mania?

You are just being muffin-headed. You can't even make your insults pertinent. I don't think you even know what hypocritical means, but like most liberals, you know it's the one charge that it is really bad if you can lay it on conservatives. While liberals are always perfectly safe from the charge because they never even pretend to be virtuous. Just self-righteous to the nth degree.

It is precisely because Obama is attracting non-religious types with his vaguely spiritual but secular message, that he is likely to get spiritual fervor sublimated into a cult of personality.

The greatest cults of personality form around politicians who offer themselves as a secular form of religion, usually socialist, communist or fascist. All these mass movements are great recepticles for the will to change, the desire to be part of something big, and the hope of making a big difference. What they wind up doing with these wishes, that's another question.
