I'm still fighting through a false impression.

The day after the event the state police released a false statement to the press. They claimed that the guy got shot while trying to run away.

Medical records clearly show that he was shot in the chest with exit wound out the back.

The guys own mother called the state police to try to clear it up.

The state police are still trying to claim shot in the back even after clear statements from doctors and the guys own mother. Perhaps they are clutching at straws, trying to save face.

The difference has proven to be pretty large to me.

The first judge refused to set any bail at all.

The next judge discovered that he had no choice and had to set a bond. He set it so high that it was impossible for my wife to post. He stated, for the record, that I was a danger to the community.

This same judge at the next hearing found out about the misinformation, and stated, again for the record, that I was NOT a danger to the community. He then lowered my bond to where I could get out in time for the holidays. He also stated that this was based on his new understanding of the situation.

I'm now going before another judge. I strongly suspect that he believes this "shot in the back while fleeing" newspaper account.

Either way, it seems that it souldn't matter .. but it does.
