No, only naked shorting results in more shares being available for trading than there are shares outstanding.

So if all the issued outstanding shares are redeemed and all the gold gone. You have a bunch of naked shot sellers with no place to get shares and a real legal problem for those who allowed the naked shorting to exist without insisting on delivery of borrowed shares.

BTW VET, I am old, what's your excuse?

Yeah, I understand the buyers of the shares sold to them by the naked shorts, would not be able to get redeem shares for gold, but that is because they would have no shares to redeem. They would first have to fight the legal battle to obtain real shares to present.

No sure what I am going to do if the moon really is made out of cheese, but that can wait.
