Ed - have you ever taken a look at Venoco Inc (VQ)? They have 99 MMBOE proved reserves (all NA,78% oil, 61% PD, reserve life 14.5 yrs) and sell for EV of $1.3 Billion. They are moving their assets to an upcoming IPO MLP (VAC).

I am not sure if it worth some considerations. But the stock has been beaten pretty badly. I'd appreciate if you can help to understand the rather complicated transactions (to me at least). Here is their most recent company presentation:
