It not BS, the tax code is way to complex with make it harder to comply with and also harder to enforce compliance. When the law and regulations printed out and bound couldn't fit in a bookshelf or in a car, your going to have these sorts of problems. You want the IRS to have more funding, well that will enforce a bit more compliance. I don't think we are near the level where an extra dollar of compliance funding doesn't get an extra dollar of revenue. OTOH it will also increase the very type of abuse your are complaining about.
