The $48k Norwegian minimum wage is impressive, as one could expect for the Kuwait of Europe.

Incidentally, I couldn't resist, NZ$49,000 in Q1 1987 is roughly $52,132 in 2008 USD. (a January 1987 NZD being worth a 1987 USD $0.546 - and a January 1987 USD being worth $1.9485 today)

Now this USD equivalent is worth NZ$64,435 today.

But to show us all that one or more governments are lying, using the inflation calculator of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, NZ$49,000 in 1987 Q1 is worth NZ$87,710 today - or US $70,694.

Now $52,132 is not quite equal to $70,694 so I would suggest that U.S. CPI adjustments, created by a panel headed by Alan Greenspan, resulted in an under-reporting of U.S. inflation since 1987 by 35.6% - as has been widely suspected.

Leaving in 1987 you lasted longer at BP than I at Chevron. Our Chevron Resources group was closed mid-year 1983.
