There were allegedly attempts to invent perpetual motion machines, but mostly people have given up on that. Car manufacturers understand physics and don't try to run their cars by absorbing energy from the pressure of the air coming in the front. In no way was I talking about perpetual motion; I was just talking about adding a little more juice to a hybrid. Maybe I'm missing something... Currently hybrid batteries get charged by braking, and braking is obviously a necessary efficiency evil. Just as drag is a necessary evil when you move an object at high speed through air. Why not recapture a bit of that friction with turbines behind the grille, and feed that power into the hybrid battery? Or are you saying that the turbines would increase the drag, all else being equal?
