The simple answer is you would be trying to use energy to directly create energy. In any energy using system most of the energy is lost.

But, if you are not using any additional energy (the vehicle has to move through the air regardless and would be no less streamlined) and you are producing incremental energy for the battery operation of acceleration, then you should have a more energy efficient vehicle.

Let me reiterate that I'm not claiming this is perpetual motion or will save the planet from global warming or make Saudi Arabia go out of the oil business... just an idea I thought might create an incrementally more efficient vehicle.

Guess I was wrong!
