I like Obama's stance on lapel pin patriotism.

Do people think a regular citizen who works every day, maybe 6 days a week (and it doesn't matter how many days, or if retired), or whose clothing doesn't have a convenient place for a pin is less of a patriot? Women are less patriotic if they don't wear a lapel pin?

It's patriotism elitism that the critics don't even understand. And where are those pins made, anyway?

It's NLPLB, No Lapel Pin Left Behind, as a shortcut for some to demonstrate something that not everyone can do, and that really doesn't do what's important about patriotism, just as NCLB doesn't do what's important about education.

Obama's messages are about inclusion, inclusivity. So this small aspect of his campaign reflects how he has thought through and is aware of his positions.

He can also look at photos of JFK and others. No lapel pin necessary.
