I drive by a beautiful office building on 101, northern tip of Silicon Valley, every day. It was for the planned expansion of @Home, a dot com company. The building was completed, but never populated. It looks like Stanford Hospital plans to use it now. Note also that the vast majority of a fab's cost is the equipment. The shell is relatively cheap. How long was the Micron Lehi site an empty shell? What exactly does AMD have to do to claim the tax benefits?
