Thank you for your response. When Sue was married she did a lot of social drinking as she and her husband were in the social circle.. Then when the divorce started she started to drink.She was put into treatment centers twice ... 30 day dry out... She gave up drinking for awhile... It's only in this past year that she has admitted that she is an ADDICT and that she craves alcohol when it hits her. She can go two months or longer and then buy a bottle, hide it and start drinking the vodka.. drug of choice. Once she starts she cannot stop. That is what happened yesterday she drank until she was suspect for a heart attack or stroke as she was non compass mintis... and could not talk. I never smelled the alcohol which makes me berate myself but she needed hospital attention and it was the nurse at the ER who said, she smells badly of alcoholic. I just walked out as I had had the same experience this past summer. That was when she promised to see a therapist and go to AA which ended up being... I can stop when I want to.. I can control it. At least now she knows she CANNOT control it. It controls her. Addictions are terrible. I went to 10 Al Anon meetings this past summer in NC.. and she went to 3 AA... She was not committed.. I was... I have never lived with an alcoholic. It is terrible. Addictions are terrible. They hurt everyone.. Her four children are sick about it and since she is so attractive and has this charming personality no one can imagine what she is like when she is intoxicated.. She is just another person. I have to learn more about additions. I cannot help her. She has to help herself but I have said it she does not get help I cannot continue to have her here in my home as I cannot take the STRESS...
