jeff, insiders are often tied to the company in many ways. salary being one. options being another. perhaps they already own a boat load of stock.

any good investment advisor would tell them to not keep all their eggs - or even half their eggs in one basket.

in other words, their stake is already so high that they juat let it ride and diversify into other companies and industries.

i remember a telecom company where insiders sold out to diversify. the stock went up 50% in a couple months and they were questioned on their decision.

i, uh, i, uh, am diversifying to reduce my risk. of course, i, uh, am happy i did it.

btw, i think they sold several hundred million dollars worth of stock between a couple execs.

just another thought. many companies do very well w/o insider buying.

i agree it is an added benefit when it does occur...
