I think the message here, Patrick, is not whether GTE and others will eventually roll out ADSL, or even whether it will be AMTX brand, but the proposed time course for deployments.

Many telecom watchers have offered that any real ADSL rollout will likely not begin until near and into the millenium. Delays of smaller rollouts like GTE seem to confirm this hesitancy, and may be taken as warning signs.

For those readers who really aren't that concerned exactly *when* it occurs (as long as it eventually does), this is not an issue . But for folks who factor *time* into their investment return decisions, this is an important consideration.
