Dear Jim,

You are absoluetly right. There will be no justification to use Optro as volume expander alone. What I was pointing out was an incidental observation, which can be a potential advantage, IN SOME CLINICAL situations.

When a person has bled and blood transfusion is necessary, to increase the Oxygen carrying capacity and to expand volume, it can not hurt to have compound like Optro which can serve both the roles.

I am sorry that my previous post did not clearly point out these facts.
