Do you all remember a few months ago when we were all whining about Iridium getting all the press and Lor and G* being left in the obscure dust? Well, it seems like patience has its rewards and it has only just begun. Iridium keeps coming out with anouncements re their progress i.e. today on the DJS news wire, they announced their schedule - future launches, successful testing, licensing in So America, China, etc., and service by Sept 1998. Hell, no news here. We already knew all that but, it seems to put the spotlight on the sat com industry. Does anyone have a handle on what the licensing is all about? Do they have service providers in these countries or are they going direct? I suspect Larry L. might have a comment or two on this.
