NHS is a specific organization. en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org Medicare is a separate program. And its set up differently. Not that I'm a huge fan of the Medicare/Medicaid for everyone argument but I'd rather have that (or copy ideas from France, or some other places) than try to institute a clone of the NHS in the US.
