Jim, I think you stretching quite a bit what I'm saying... of course, you can tell the officer you weren't speeding, or you didn't think you were speeding, this isn't conflict avoidance... I never suggested that you should cower under, that would be silly... and I'm not at all suggesting that you can't have a conversation with a different view or opinion... I'm saying that if you take an attitude and attempt to be confronting with the police, that's not going to win you any points... GZ
