Tim, re; And look at the comments to that blog post for some other examples.

You might want to take another look at the initial comment and some of those comments posted to that blog.

What those comments would tell most of us is that your admiration for that blog is misplaced. People who agree with the original blog post are those who see things their way without any serious consideration for the plight of those who lose their jobs.

They represent the worst among us, not the best. To sit around and complain about an instance where a very necessary program was used precisely the way it was intended is mean spirited.

Unemployment insurance is intended to bridge the loss of income in the gap between losing a job and finding another job. The employee pays into the program out of his paycheck and the employer also makes contributions.

When the employee collects unemployment benefits the employer's contributions for his current employees change slightly but the pool is huge so that the amount an individual employer is "charged" for a previous employees use of the insurance is very low.

The fact is that it's a great program that allows people to keep food on the table when they have no job. Most people applaud that, whether they're conservatives, moderates or liberals. Ed
