Is that "one-drop" rule still around?

I don't think so. At least not since they put "multi-racial" in the census. Of course, that was recent, past the point where someone of his age would have committed.

I read somewhere recently that Obama bristles at the "multi-racial" label. No explanation was offered.

Around her there are lots of immigrants including immigrants from the islands and Africa. You can differentiate them easily. While their race is obvious, they aren't culturally assimilated with blacks. And then there's Tiger, who won't choose a race...

There are options on how to handle it if you're multi-racial. More now than when he was younger. Joining an Africa-centric church and partnering with a woman who majored in black-studies are indicators.

Not that I'm faulting him in any way. Only opining that he made more of a commitment than he had to, less than he might have.
