Its easy to throw stones, but intelligently analyzing claims isn't throwing stones.

They may be right, but if they are they should be able to show it with data of their own....

If their methodology is weak than it isn't about data. If you use the wrong methods, or use poor logic, than even your raw data being correct doesn't show your claims are correct.

Now Cato would need their own data to claim "We have proved this studys conclusions are false", but that their point is more that the study can't meaningfully be said to prove its own conclusions.

And Cato does use data, they use the study's own data. If the study's own data do not support the study's conclusion thats a stronger argument against the study that providing your own data. After all your own new data could be faulty. But if you use the study's own data than the claim "well that data is false" is hardly a defense of the study.

I do have to give credit to WHO for releasing enough data and information about their methodology to enable such analysis. Yes that should be expected, but sometimes, esp. in areas that involve political controversies, it isn't done.

I don't know if the raw data was made available, but at least some data was, enough so the study could be analyzed (but maybe not enough for someone to enable others to make their own ranking using the same data with different calculations and methodologies.
