Can any of you direct me to information that defines what the economic and engineering parameters are for commercial solar power? Similar data for wind power would also be appreciated.

In particular, I would like to know what the configuration of a reliable electric grid would be. Specifically, what would the installed base of a continuous source - ie thermal plants or hydro plants - have to be to provide a reliable grid.

As an example, if a 1000 MW Solar Plant was built, what would its generation profile be on a typical day ( peak to trough)? How much land would it take? What would it cost? What is the construction time - permit to production?

Thanks,

Bob
