Ever read "Company Aytch" by Sam Watkins? He describes the most horrific injuries and deaths as though he were talking about the weather, but he was absolutely speechless trying to convey the battle aftermath at Franklin.

A good friend administers the Carnton Mansion there.

Yup - I read Sam Watkins book. I have also been to Carnton. What I find most interesting is that both the Carnton and Carter homes were able to be preserved for history. The Carnton Cemetary is very moving as well.

The conversion of the city golf course to a park is also an amazing thing.

I have visited Franklin at least 4 times. I will go again. BTW - here is the organization I belong to for preservation of Franklin.
