ActiveX has little success against java on the web, they simply withdrawed the ActiveX pages on their website. By Mixing COM+, DCOM, DHTML, and scripting together, MSFT told you they had a new weapon against java called Windows DNA, Windows DNA really doesn't belong to the web. with the HotSpot bringing the java speed to the level of c++ and java becoming more mature next year, all the noise MSFT made will be only a bad memory.
