As a point of note, my wife used to work for Cargill and i left mid five figures in a 401(k) and ESPP. Most of the 401(k) was in Company shares. They started showing oversized returns just around 2002. Whether that was from foreign or domestic i don't know. So we seem to be well into a cycle at the very least.

I've never been in the market during a commodoties run...could you quantify you interpretation of a "long cycle"?
