"They didn't make Prius's in the 1970's." Oh, duh. Again those goal posts don't stay put. "You are obviously too young to live through it." Well, I remember buying gas for $0.25 a gallon. "This was not during WWII the lines came first, then in some areas rationing was used to shorten the lines." Hmm. You must be talking late 1970s. I am talking about the earlier one in 1973. You could only pump so much and people would go to multiple stations to get a full tank. When you talk about the oil situation in the 1970s, you need to be a little specific. There were two big oil shocks. One due to the embargo and another due to instability in Iran.
