Another point you're neglecting is that people didn't buy Toyotas in the late '70's ONLY for the gas mileage, they also bought them because they were GOOD cars while our at that time were complete crap, and everyone knew it.

You're REALLY swimming against the current here Hugh! It's getting just SO DIFFICULT to minimize the damage of the Bush administration! At least you're admitting there IS damage. I suppose that's progress. When a Bushie starts saying, "Well, it's not as bad as..(the worst analogous situation they can remember)" the carnage has penetrated a little.
