I think the "Jewish Race" thing is important for Nadine because, like the Mormons and my Credit Union, "once a member, always a member"! They don't want to LOSE membership.

If they had to count all the secular, non-practicing ex-Jews as non-Jews, there'd be a lot LESS of them than they claim now.

It's kind of a disservice to the secular - they can't ESCAPE their Jewishness, as far as Nadine is concerned.
