The difference between us is that I recognize how thin the thread is, on which my prosperity hangs. The closest thing I've seen to a good argument for universal single payer came from a Canadian. It was a comment he made in passing, not even offered as an argument. He mentioned how nice it was not to have to worry about health care services because everything was taken care of. I remember that comfortable feeling from when I was a military spouse. There's something to be said for that. Not strong enough to justify the shift, but certainly a pleasant side effect.
