Since Dems mostly 'don't do' Winner Take All, those States are not 'sweeps', and with the Dems the votes count with the minority vote-getter as with the majority vote-getter.
Still... when one looks at a map of the US, color-coded for the Clinton and the Obama wins, then color in the expected results for the remaining States yet to vote, I agree with you that it 'looks interesting'.
It almost appears that you can draw a line across the country, at, say..., OK's northern border, and see that Clinton has mostly taken every State with Significant Hispanic vote totals (including FL...), and taken the industrialized North and 'Rust Belt' --- the 'traditional Democrat base'... while Obama has taken the South (excepting for FL mostly...), the 'Heart Land', Mountain West, and West Coast (CA being, as per usual, split into a 'North / South divide, with N. CA hewing closer to WA & OR [Obama] in voting, and S. CA closer to the 'Hispanic dominant' states (NV, NM, TX, FL, etc.)
Obama runs stronger in any State, it seems, where Independents or Republicans are allowed to vote... forfending his relatively greater potential in the Fall's general election.
From this point on out though, it does appear like 'every vote for Clinton is a vote strengthening McCain'.... |
