>>How wonderful for the Greeks! I'm so glad to hear that. My experience with the UK system was wonderful. The people I knew in Scotland who also had to use the system were also pleased. I met no one who complained about the system. They all seemed to feel rather sorry for us in the US, although they do like Disneyland a lot, and they think that's pretty nice, they sure don't want our health system.<<

My Canadian girlfriend feels sorry for us, too, and sorry that she has to deal with our wacky insurance system if she wants to live here.
Just today, I got the unwelcome news that my coverage has been cancelled due to some problem with the routing of my premium payments. This is mostly a result of the fact that my old employer changed carriers at the end of the year, and the handoff of my account, for which I qualify through CalCOBRA, was botched. I didn't get set up with Blue Cross until near the end of January, and didn't receive my first bill until February 18th, at which point I was given notice that my payments were two months overdue.
I immediately sent in the money for the two months, but the check hasn't been cashed as of today, and my coverage has been cancelled as of 2/1.
If this doesn't get straightened out, the full-body PET and pelvic CT scans that I had this morning at Cedars Sinai won't be covered. How exciting is that?
I just hope the results of the scans are negative. I can't afford to have cancer again right now. I've spent all my money on lattes.
