I don't think anyone suggest "automatically" replacing anything. My preference is single payer because it is simple, and I've seen it at work, and I like what I saw- but I wouldn't advocate "automatic" anything. Has anyone here advocated either precipitous or automatic change? I feel those terms are straw babies :-) I'm not going to call them "men" - since it's a small point.
