Most borrowers only understand one number, what's the monthly payment?
Give me a break. You're going to tell me the vast majority of people who took ARMs or interest-only or negative amortization loans didn't KNOW that's what they were getting? Really?

Would YOU sign a contract without reading and understanding it? Really?

IF you DO and are then held to the terms of the contract, is that unfair?

Now I don't trust most numbers I see involving this matter; I think no one really knows about most matters here. The lenders are as secretive as possible. But I have read that 60% -70% of the people getting those loans were speculators; often flippers.

The next time I have a loss on a stock trade, are the taxpayers going to reimburse me?

It's the Greenspan Put that GOT us here, Ilaine. More use and wider application of it is just teaching more people that risky ventures are safe because the gov't will bail them out if things go badly.
