I used my first roll of film for pictures of my brother and his kid at the beach, using just a standard 50mm lens. The results were good, and I soon moved on to telephoto and wide-angle lenses which provided better pictures, including close-ups of people and more interesting landscapes, sunsets, etc. Rainbows are interesting as you indicated but difficult to capture on film, I've found. They require being in the right place without ground clutter and at the right time -- difficult to do when living in the big city. Did you know that if you view a rainbow from a very high altitude, it's circular?

Moving to digital photography is an example of something new that we're never too old to try -- I keep saying that. :)

I'll have to think about volunteering for Sarkie's Words Duty. Maybe will put together a trial one-day list to see how it goes. Do I remember correctly that Sarkie is Amy? If so, there has to be a story there? Ditto for Rudi/Sandintoes, Bill/Ish and others. :)
