I guess "single payer" isn't really what we should be talking about.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that there was some discussion on this thread about the French hybrid healthcare system, wherein healthcare coverage is pretty much universal, providing a comfortable base level of care for everyone who wants it, while private insurers offer supplemental policies, and those who can afford it have high-end facilities. I was saying that their approach is one that makes sense to me.

The Canadian system is similar. Plenty of people there take advantage of an ability to pay a bit more for quicker, more convenient, or higher-end care.
