I don't think I've ever discussed supplementation of the single-payer before. I'm not sure that even makes sense. After all, single-payer connotes, duh, single payer, not supplemental payers. I'm extrapolating from their adamance that their be no tiers of service.

Let me repeat the point to which you are replying. No one on this thread, to my knowledge, has argued for no supplementation. And I have specifically argued for it in posts to you, duh. I assume you read them.

I'll repeat my assertion in case you missed it. I think the most preferable system for the healthcare in the future would be a generalizing of medicare to the general population with a high floor. And with supplemental insurance available to those who wish it and can afford.

And, again, my own guess is that there are tweaks needed to such a view. But that if the rhetoric shifts to the provision of universal care, we will see a host of proposals which address extending health care to everyone, hopefully, through single payer systems.
