Somehow I'm not sure houses are cheap in Eastern Europe. US
has a lot of different codes, so newer houses must be satisfy
all of those. Newer houses are very well insulated, older houses may not be. However, the quality of
materials does vary a great deal, and so does the cost.
For example, you can't find copper pipes in a newer house,
they are all plastic (although that's not necessarily a bad
thing, the cost is obviously lower).
You can pay up to your nose when
finishing the house as well, if you want really good quality.
Typically materials like plastic and vynil are used in place
of stone or wood.
