Shame again on the Boston Globe....
Mike Huckabee withdrew on Tuesday night, after McCain swept the four primaries to reach the 1,191 delegates needed. Now, Ron Paul, the last remaining candidate, is telling supporters that he can achieve victory....
Still, he urged supporters to help him rack up as many delegates as possible in the remaining primaries and caucuses to help further his message of liberty.
"We must remember elections are short-term efforts, revolutions are long-term projects," he said in a lengthy video posted late Thursday on his website.
Paul, who held on to his Texas congressional seat on Tuesday, became an Internet money machine, with his supporters raising far more money for him than several better-known candidates. He also won quite a bit of attention during debates as the only Republican candidate opposed to the Iraq war.
But Paul's campaign failed to translate that success and notoriety into votes, only reaching double digits in a couple of contests.
Still, Paul said in the video, his success "surpassed all my expectations."
"Much good has been accomplished this year," he said.

Uhm....watch the video. The MSM has misinterpreted it. That is good news. It ain't over until WE say it is over. Ron Paul has not quit. He is still spreading the message. We will do the rest. He has not asked for his name to be removed from any ballot. Lightning may strike between now and the convention. Goodness knows that McCain is NOT well liked among Republicans. He is just the best that Americans can vote for with MSM like your self slanting the results.
Please quit spreading falsehoods. Admit the ambiguity of what he said in the video and URGE people to listen to the video themselves. There is a strategy afoot that needs McCain to shoot himself in the foot. You are hurting this by saying he is out when he is only talking about realities and odds. We know the odds. Do you? And the outcome if we fail? Get real and start helping

The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power. We need to POUND the upcoming states so that fellow PAUL supporters know to go to their precincts. We need to have another MONEY BOMB. We have to stay committed to this short term project for our long term r3VOlution to succeed.
Please join with me in writing to officials, press, and leaving comments in the upcoming states. Now with Huckabee gone PAUL numbers should spike in the remaining states. My precinct went to HUCKABEE and all our delegates will SCREAM, "We did not elect McCain" and guess what? The McPeople, like McCain were so arrogant many of them did not caucus. They underestimated us and thought we would not go either but we did and now we are delegates and we will have started talking to all the other delegates to reveal the truth about McCain and to remind them of the similarities between those they supported and PAUL.
Especially HUCKABEE people. PAUL though different than Huckabee shares many views. Posted by MJ March 7, 08 11:29 AM Reply | Report this post

Ron Paul is not "dropping out" -- despite media hopes that their anti-Paul campaign has worked. McCain (and his fellow bomber Lieberman) will eventually drop out, once they are more carefully examined. The "comeback kid", who miraculously "came back" after saying nice-nice to Lieberman last December, will find himself weighed in the scales of the Republicans and found wanting. I'm not the only Republican who doesn't want my nation drawn into more wars and a deeper recession for the sake of satisfying neocon interests. agreed. the plan is make it appear that dr. paul has quit the race - he has NOT! mccain has NOT clinched the nomination either.
dr. paul IS in it as long as we are and we're in it for the long haul.
people need to watch the video.

Geez....same message, same media. I wonder how many times this is that Paul has reportedly 'quit the race.' The press keeps making the same mistakes over and over again...why not actually watch the video? Get the words from the 'horse's mouth' instead of some other media outlet. We Paul supporters have A LOT of the GOP delegates....it will be interesting to see what happens at the National convention. If we see the GOP platform change their stance on things such as the gold standard, policing the world, and overspending, then we have done a great job. Hopefully, and only then, will more people begin to realize what a great policy he has. Posted by Aaron March 7, 08 11:31 AM Reply | Report this post

Not at all what he said, but what the heck. MSM tried this same schtick a few weeks ago. May as well keep it up. At least the video is up here so that people can listen for themselves. He states - quite clearly - that he's running the entire process to the convention. Posted by Deeptoad March 7, 08 11:44 AM Reply | Report this post

"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Mark Twain
As much as the media pundits might like it, Ron Paul did NOT announce the end to his political campaign. He is calling for an expansion of the movement into the "next phase" which involves political action extending well beyond November. We need a MAJOR course correction in our country, and this presidential race was going to be part of an ongoing struggle even if he had won in a landslide. Listen to the video. It IS worth the time. Even though there are a great many people who believe Ron Paul is far too conservative (Libertarian) he is, of all the nominees to date, the candidate who confronts the true issues facing this nation with no flip flopping.
He has also been deterred by the all media for not getting his positions out to the nation. The media, as is their want, had decided prior to this whole process that Hillary was their "annointed" choice and Obama tossed a monkey wrench into that little plot. They truly didn't care who the Republican nominee would be since they were Hillary/Billary from the start but McCain was their least likely bet and that has them back on their heels.
When this entire charade is finally brought to a close you can rest assured that Ron Paul and his views will re-surface in Congress and a great deal of what he has presented to this nation will ultimately come to fruition.
For a nation who alledgedly has professed they wanted a "drastic change" in the manner that their government has been functioning we have been forced to accept some of the "same old same o" with Beltway insiders still running the show. WE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF OURSELVES. Posted by dharper March 7, 08 11:48 AM Reply | Report this post

This is typical MSM crap... it's nice to know that some things don't change, unlike falling markets, foreclosures up 71% over last month, worst job losses in 5 years, gold and oil both up to record highs, the USD in freefall. I want to extend my humblest thanks to the MSM which has gone out of its way to screw the only man with an economic plan that ever worked in the history of this country. Remember that when fewer people buy your friggin' newspapers, watch your TV hype and don't buy from your sponsors. Nice job. Posted by Steve March 7, 08 12:17 PM Reply | Report this post

Well its funny, the MSM never mentioned Ron Paul during all the primaries. They always left him out of the voting reports and surveys, etc etc and now all of a sudden, he is getting headlines when they think he is quitting. Isn't that ironic??? The only reason they are mentioning him now is because the MSM thinks if he is quitting, they won't be scared of him anymore. Posted by Ellen March 7, 08 12:18 PM Reply | Report this post

Watch the video --
We will fight all the way to the NATIONAL CONVENTION. We have to let these folks that still have their primaries coming up that PAUL is still there and that they must vote for him. I am amazed at the number of Huckabee supporters that have come and told me that they will support PAUL now. I urged them to at least go give a buck to help us let these upcoming states know.

Once again, the media ignores Paul until they find something that they can distort and use against him. If you watch the video, he has stated that he isn't quitting, and that his presidential race is not over. Seven months until the convention, just about anything could happen, especially since it is about time for Democrats to start taking McCain down since he is the presumed nominee and Bush endorsing him is probably a kiss of death. In addition he is already in trouble with FEC rules, and the same war vets who spearheaded the attack on John Kerry are now putting McCain in the crosshairs.
This isn't over by far. In addition, his numbers were very impressive when you consider the way the MSM ignored/misrepresented him and the proven vote fraud that has occured. When the revolution is in full swing, the scum in the MSM will pay just as much as war criminals like Bush and Cheney. Posted by Brandon March 7, 08 12:45 PM Reply | Report this post

Stick a fork in him he's done.Ron Paul couldn't win a game of checkers, let alone an election in anywhere other than his congressional district. The public has spoken and they didn't choose Ron Paul. Which is probably a good thing since Ron Paul says he won't fight those that wish to destroy us. Making nice with the Islamo-Fascists will get us killed. Good thing that he will remain a congressman and do harm only to those morons that voted him in.John McCain has secured the number of delegates needed to win the GOP nomination. While he's not my first choice (I'm a Huckabee voter) I will close ranks around the nominee, support and vote for him. To do so other wise will ensure Hillary/Obama ruling this nation and imposing limitations on my freedom which would then be unthinkable. Posted by Beef N. I am not surprised by your propaganda. Dr. Paul is not dropping out. He merely states that he is unlikely to win in the conventional way. He may still win in an unconventional way. Keating Five Songbird Mc Shame is not eligible to be president under the Constitution, not being a natural born citizen. The Framers of the Constitution would not have contemplated U.S. solders living abroad because it went against their political philosophy. If you think that their may be an uproar about the candidate with the least votes becoming the nominee, think again. I have never seen any support for McCain and I was at three televised debates. He has always had the least amount of visible support. In the recent Texas election Dr. Paul won his district by 70% of the vote. In the presidential election only one out of five of these supposedly voted for Dr. Paul for president. A person would have to suspend logic to believe this. A voter that believes in liberty and small government, ending the war, and a sound economy at the local level will not believe the opposite at the national level. Vote fraud has occurred all over the country and it is plainly obvious here. I call on all Ron Paul district voters to sign affidavits if you voted for Dr. Paul in both elections and let us see what really happened in Texas. Do not count this movement out prematurely, this is not an election it is a Revolution! Posted by Elaine McKillop, Esq. March 7, 08 01:51 PM Reply | Report this post

It is interesting how the MSM spins Paul's message as resignation. I didn't get that from his message at all. It is this kind of bias that caused me to become an ex-Hannity and an ex-Rush fan. I see things more clearly now than I have in over 30 years of following issues and voting for the lesser of two evils. I have Ron Paul to thank for opening my eyes and encouraging me to seek truth about issues facing this nation. I am angry at myself that I slept so long.
Those days are over.
Now I'm angry at my reprentatives who have performed poorly and misrepresented me as an American to the world. I want the world to know that I do not agree with my current president's course of action in matters of foreign and domestic policy. I also want the world to know that I am sorry and apologize for my government who has chosen to put profits before the safety of Americans and many others on the planet. At great personal cost I have worked for the past year to put Ron Paul into the White House and to spread the understanding of liberty in that.
Though there are scenarios in which Paul is nominated, nomination is very unlikely. As we recognize that, we can still voice what we want with votes for Paul and by sending Paul delegates to the Republican national convention. But, that is not quite the same as a Presidential campaign.
We have national emergencies approaching. It is important for Ron Paul to be a national name and to be in a position of leadership in the House when these come. Others are running for Congress. In our political efforts for liberty, let's support these. Let's work for a strength of freedom in Washington. If liberty falls now, it might be long until she recovers.
Encourage those who still go door to door, but if that is not your thing, then do the freedom thing that is right for you. Run for office, write that book, take that class... Posted by Thomas March 7, 08 02:36 PM Reply | Report this post

Paul was the last chance of this Country, and I did support him 100%! Unfortunately, the 90% of the Americans, more preferred to spend time to shop in the malls on they credit card, and watch the NFL on the big screen, than go save whatever left from they own Country, and they freedom. He did call for revolution, and what happened, nothing. I feel, the people in this country need to suffer a lot more, to make them understand how deep s…t in they are. The sad thing is, by the time the Americans realize they country looted, and no liberty left, is going to be too late. Posted by Zoltan March 7, 08 03:24 PM Reply | Report this post

This article doesn't surprise me. The elites have too much control and I hope it is not too late to wrest that away from them. They control the media, financing, corporations, etc. The best thing is to walk away from their game. Try to buy only from producers in your region. Keep everything local - RELOCALIZE our economies. Globalization only works for the big corporations. Also, this goes beyond the false two-party dichotomy. Look at the big picture. The most effective thing we can do to bring them down is to stop giving them our money and borrowing credit. Do as much as you can for yourself and keep your money in your local economy. Umm...will the nice folks at MSMBC please explain how "urging supporters to help him rack up as many delegates as possible in the remaining primaries and caucuses" equals a CONCESSION?
What Paul is advocating sounds suspiciously like the campaign of someone who is still trying to win the race!
In WA state, we haven't even had the county caucuses yet: Ours was a very close spread, less than 9% of the vote separated McCain, Huckabee, Paul, and even Romney (who had already suspended his campaign). It's entirely possible that delegates whose candidates have officially dropped out may abandon their candidate and go to PAUL rather than McCain: McCain, whose pockets are lined with Airbus campaign dollars, after Boeing suspiciously lost a $44 BILLION MILITARY aircraft bid to them.
Considering McCain is all about a pro-war, pro-security platform, how can our nation POSSIBLY be safer when our military machines are being made by a FOREIGN COUNTRY? Posted by Melissa in WA March 7, 08 04:25 PM Reply | Report this post

WOW another 'reporter' misrepresenting Ron Paul. Not a surprise now. If this 'reporter' had actually watched the video and had the common sence to understand that Paul is still 'urging supporters to rack up as many delegates as possible in the remaining primaries and caucuses' because he HAS NOT CONCIEDED & IS STILL IN THE RACE. No wonder Ron Paul has not been given the media attention he so deserves because of douchebags like this guy who claims to be a 'reporter' when all he is doing is continuing m.s.m.'s attempts to dumb down the general public by falsifying the news. This is what happens when rich democrats have complete control of hte media, they unfortunatly have the power to make uninformed American's belive things that aren't true. This country will reap what it has sown. Virtually ignored and marginalized by the media, he was the only candidate that spoke the truth. It is now becoming obvious how dumbed down this nation has become. They could get no dirt on him, so they make it up. A true statesman by any standard. Now you will have a McCain, Hillary or Obama at the helm. That should be refreshing. "Full speed ahead" said Capt. Smith as the Titanic sailed into history. Another dupe for Israel and fascist USSA. Whoever made comment #22 is way out of touch , when did Ron say he would not defend United States? Who is befriending countries like (not only) Saudi Arabia ? Saudi Arabia is in business with the Bush Family. saudi Arabia is one of the most extreme countries against human Rights. Women can't even drive cars or have any rights at all there. I don't need to preach about this to people that already know this stuff. Us Ron Paul supporters are not only up against the media , our current government , and huge corporations looking to basically make the world into peasants , we are also up against many of our own people that are just to lazy to get the real facts or stupid enough to believe whatever they are told by those who do not have the peoples interests in mind. It's kind of like taking security advise from a burglar. Somehow we need to get his message out there better. Another problem is the vote fraud . What do we do about that?
