[ With 10 Mbps bidirectionally, at $40-$50/month, which includes your cable channels AND the modem/setup/etc., (and could also include VoIP), I don't think the telcos have a chance against regions where cable modems will be available. ]

It seems grossly negligent to me to throw out a figure of 10 Mbps without also declaring how many users you are assuming on that cable at the same time. It is fairly well settled that bandwidth capacity per user(which is all that counts) on a cable modem is a function of the number of users connected through that trunk at any one time.

This is one of the fundamental differences, some migh say advantage, between cable modems and ADSL.
