Article in NEWS.COM on IBM's PC effort - apparently hundreds of layoffs are coming in IBM's consumer division because they didn't 'forsee' the sub $1000 PC and have lost around 300 million this year. The article goes on to say IBM is losing hundreds of dollars on each Aptiva they sell. I don't know about the hundreds of dollars per PC, but the article can be read at:
news.com

By the way, this sounds like a positive for CPQ, although as SECAMEND9 states, and I mentioned yesterday, the stock shows no signs of life leading up to earnings. Only thing I can figure is maybe folks with lots of profits are selling some of their stock prior to release...
Hopefully, the figures to be released and comments are not perceived as negative, or watch out in the short term.

John
