could easily win 51-52% of the vote You keep stating variations of this as important, and I feel I must missing something. So let's assume an Obama candidate would win with a larger percentage of the popular vote, what does that mean? How does that play out, if the composition of Congress stays the same and thus the gridlock stays the same?
