Wyatt pointed out a long time ago (maybe 12-18 months) that gasoline demand won't drop even with improved CAFE standards, if only because the 'installed base' of gas-guzzline SUV's is so large. Even if people sold 'em, there would still be a buyer who will be pumping copious amounts of unleaded in the tank for years to come. What's the average lifespan of a Ford Expedition or Cadillac Escalade, anyway?
