Near as I can determine, The Ganges River was pronounced as the Gunga by the English. You know the English...... Anyway, Ganga was the Goddess of the River. A din is a servant, so a Gunga Din is a servant of the goddess. ---------------- But I'm sure there was a Swede in there somewhere, the goddess probably had a crush on him.
