SPX 1175 is only a near-term target for this leg As many here including myself have waxed on about many times, thanks to the NYSE circuit breakers, any chance of a 1987-style crash has been outlawed in favor of the slow death by 1,000 cuts Longs no longer have the option of receiving a quick amputation of, so to speak, their right hand by a clean cut at the wrist -- they will instead be made to suffer the removal of one finger at a time at fortnightly intervals Quite frankly I would prefer having just the single operation myself, but maybe that's just me
