Thanks. I understand what an uptick is, but for the price of that block (57 7/8) to be below both the bid and ask (which was 58 1/4 x 58 3/8) and on an uptick, that means either (1) the prior trade was also substantially below the bid and ask (it would have had to be at most 57 13/16), or (2) the bid and ask jumped significantly (more than 1/2 point) the instant before the block trade. Both of these are highly unlikely scenarios.

I could see that such a trade could be on an uptick or below both the bid and ask, but I have difficulty seeing how it could have been both.
