I think that "Global Warming" is a term we need to avoid. Yes, there are trends in the Earth's history of warming and cooling, so using that term to relate to our impact on the environment is perhaps not the most accurate.

I prefer the term "Climate Change" as it implies an effect that is not temperature specific. Current climate models show that our pollution will affect the atmosphere and therefore the climate on the planet. This has been shown, via models, to affect the weather patterns and will result in some areas becoming hotter, others cooler.

This also has effects on our food production capacity as areas that are currently productive, such as eastern Australia, may well become less so. This has massive potential economic impacts.
