pessimism/optimism and the art of the long view. I work the subjects out on a two decade time scale. You can be very pessimist for the next six months but optimist for the next 2 years.

I was very pessimist lat 80s but extremely optimist for the decades to come. It was written on the waall. Now I am working with a time horizon of 2017.

Here is one example: I keep writing things about Brazil taking the oil of Tupi early next decade, relieving taxes and then population being much more rich sice we live under a huge tax burden.
